Apple has about 16,000 employees throughout Europe, but the company says it helps support many more jobs than that.
Apple created a dedicated webpage this week touting research findings from Vision Mobile, which claims that the Cupertino company created or supports 629,000 jobs in Europe.
In particular, Apple says its App Store has "directly" led to the creation of 497,000 jobs in Europe since it launched in 2008.
"Of the more than $20 billion developers have earned from App Store sales worldwide, $6.5 billion has been paid to European developers," Apple wrote in a statement on its website. "This job growth for coders, developers, entrepreneurs and others would not have existed without Apple’s innovation and technology." Read more...
