The New York Rangers will try to ride a wave of emotion to stave off elimination for the second straight game. They face the Pittsburgh Penguins Sunday in their best-of-seven Stanley Cup playoff series.
The Penguins lead the series 3-2, but New York was able to fight another day after a strong team performance led to a 5-1 victory in Game 5. The Rangers rallied to support their teammate Martin St. Louis, who returned to the lineup after traveling to Montreal to be with his family after the death of his mother, France, on Thursday.
St. Louis' father and sister will be on hand at Madison Square Garden to offer support and pay tribute to France on Mother's Day as St. Louis and the Rangers try to push the series to seven games.
As the Rangers dig deep to deliver their best performance of the season, injuries are taking a toll on the Penguins. Already without defenseman Brooks Orpik, Pittsburgh may also be missing blueliner Olli Maatta. Maatta's status is unknown, but he didn't take the morning skate Sunday, as per Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review . Deryk Engelland is expected to play in his place.
Game time for Game 6 is 7 p.m. ET from Manhattan, with television coverage on NBC Sports Network in the U.S. and CBC in Canada. We'll be here with all of the action.
