Booze Apps Are Starting to Get Some Buzz

Want a liquor store in your pocket? How about a bartender on your doorstep? Then let’s get this party started.


A slew of fast-growing new apps promise to deliver your favorite libations via smartphone, while one startup in Los Angeles will throw in a real-life mixologist as part of a Memorial Day promotion.


Android and iOS apps like Drizly, Thirstie and Drinkfly, among others, have launched their hooch-to-home delivery services in major metropolitan areas including New York, Chicago and Boston, with plans for rapid expansion. The already-bicoastal Drizly just closed a $2.5 million round of venture capital funding, on top of a recent $2.3 million investment, and announced its debut in the tony Hamptons, set for this holiday weekend.
