Bird Flies in Front of Pitch, Barely Avoids Randy Johnson Moment in D-Backs Game

History almost repeated itself in the desert.

During the third inning of the San Diego Padres-Arizona Diamondbacks game on Wednesday, a bird challenged death by flying right in front of Diamondbacks pitcher Chase Anderson during his delivery:

The bird was enough to distract the Padres' Seth Smith, who called for time. The ump did grant the late request.

Of course, this bird could have suffered a very different fate.
