Cozumel is an island in the Caribbean Sea on the east coast of Mexico. That is one of the largest islands in the Atlantic Ocean, 48 kilometers long and 16 kilometers wide. It precisely is located 20 km from the mainland and 60 km from the famous fashionable resort Cancun. Most of the population, numbering about 77,000 residents lives in the town of San Miguel which is also the capital of this area and a famous tourist destination. At first sight Cozumel may seem like another tropical island with shining sea, white sandy beaches and endless sunlight, so it would represent just another Caribbean summer destination. But, the reality is completely different. There you can feel the warm hospitality of the locals, you would have chance to learn about their culture and will experience moments that will leave you breathless.

With each step there is something exciting and new to explore. Cozumel is a place that truly has something to offer. The first settlers were the ancient Maya who inhabited island at about 300 year. Before becoming a tourist attraction, the place was known as a religious site. Many women come to pay homage to the goddess of fertility, named Ixchel. The influence of Maya is feeling today too. That is the reason why the island differs from the other islands. Cozumel Island is a permanent stop for cruisers and one of the most attractive resorts in Mexico. It allows you to see the second largest coral reef in the world, as well as colorful fish and plants.
