U.S. General Reportedly Killed in 'Insider' Attack at Afghanistan Base

A man dressed in an Afghan army uniform opened fire Tuesday on NATO troops at a military training base outside Kabul, officials said. The man killed at least one U.S. soldier and wounded 15 others, a Department of Defense official tells Mashable.


The incident involved local Afghan and coalition troops at the Marshal Fahim National Defense University, the official said, adding that the incident was under investigation


One of the Americans killed at the base, on the outskirts of the capital, was a U.S. Army major general, The New York Times reported, making the officer the highest-ranking member of the U.S. military to die in the Afghanistan war, if confirmed.
