Samsung Pay takes on Apple Pay, but goes further

What, exactly, is holding back the growth of mobile, contactless payments? Nothing — they're happening.


Apple told us last month that a huge percentage of mobile payments at some major retailers are happening on the NFC-enabled Apple Pay (on iPhone 6 and 6 Plus). However, there are very few smartphone-enabled mobile payments happening in total. So big percentages don’t exactly make a trend, do they?



Part of the holdup has to be that not all retailers are on board with the new payment systems. Not every point of sale has an NFC kiosk and even some that do have disabled NFC while they wait for, well, some other mobile payment system. Read more...
