The American rapper made a surprise visit to Kurdistan, a semi-autonomous region in Iraq, to meet with local officials and perform at a charity event on Friday.

The singer, who made no mention of the event on his Twitter and Facebook pages, took the stage at a charity soccer tournament organized by the Rwanga Foundation, a Kurdish group whose self-stated mission is to help the "most vulnerable people."

"We wanted to invite an international artist to come to Kurdistan in order to get [people] familiar with Kurdistan, and to show it’s a safe region,” Zirak Hamad, a spokesperson, told local website BasNews. Read more...
