One of the NBA’s fiercest rivalries will be renewed Sunday afternoon when the Golden State Warriors host the Los Angeles Clippers in a Pacific Division showdown.
After splitting the first two games of the season series, Golden State will be eyeing redemption for a 100-86 Christmas Day shellacking handed down by Doc Rivers’ bunch.
And this time around, the Warriors figure to have the upper hand. Blake Griffin—who scorched Golden State to the tune of 18 points, 15 rebounds and six assists on Dec. 25—is slated to miss his 12th straight game after undergoing surgery on his right elbow to repair a staph infection.
As always, the Warriors will lean upon MVP candidate Stephen Curry to handle the load. Since the All-Star break, Curry is averaging 25.1 points and 7.5 assists while shooting 50.8 percent from the field and 52.1 percent from three.
Curry will be matched up against the equally hot Chris Paul, who’s functioned as a one-man wrecking crew in Griffin’s absence. In the month sans Griffin, Paul is averaging 22.5 points, 12.5 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.5 steals while shooting better than 51 percent from the field.
You can catch all the action at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
