TNA Impact Wrestling: What to Expect from Austin Aries After Tournament Win

With his latest impressive victory on last Wednesday's edition of TNA Impact Wrestling on September 24, former World Heavyweight and X-Division champion Austin Aries capitalized on a massive opportunity to regain championship gold once more.

After going through Mike Knux, MVP, Tajiri, Mr. Anderson and Abyss during TNA's Gold Rush tournament, Aries earned the opportunity to select a title shot of his choice. With Aries set to make the major announcement on this week's Impact! Wrestling, one major question remains.

Which title will Aries challenge for?

Looking back into his TNA career, Aries has been no stranger to rising to the occasion. Aries, who dominated the X-Division scene from 2011-2012, began to gain notice among fans for his appearance and style of wrestling inside the ring.

After former Impact general manager Hulk Hogan agreed to give him a chance to compete against Bobby Roode for the World Heavyweight Championship, Aries, without hesitation, dropped the X-Division belt to earn the title shot at the Destination X pay-per-view.

Once Destination X rolled along, Aries sent shock waves across the wrestling world by defeating Roode to capture the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. The victory had fans talking about Aries and his ability to transform from a cruiserweight wrestler to become the top draw in TNA. However, Aries' run as World Heavyweight champion was short-lived, as Jeff Hardy captured the title just three months later at TNA's biggest annual pay-per-view, Bound for Glory.

Despite the loss to Hardy at Bound for Glory, Aries' feel-good title victory over Roode to become World Champion would spark headlines for TNA Tag Team champions in 2013 and regained his original gold by winning back the X-Division title on a recent edition of Impact! Wrestling that aired on July 10.

With another opportunity to climb back toward the top of the card, Aries should have his eyes completely focused on Bobby Lashley and repeat history by becoming the new World Heavyweight champion.

After winning the Gold Rush tournament, Aries once again proved to the wrestling world that he not only deserves to belong on the top of the card, but that his ability, energy, attitude, and in-ring style also make him worth of a World Heavyweight champion.
