Ever since The Hurt Locker it seems like we have a military-themed Oscar hopeful late in the year — it was Lone Survivor last year, though it didn't get much awards traction — and now comes American Sniper from Clint Eastwood, who's had trouble with the kudos going back a decade now (J. Edgar, Invictus, Gran Torino, et al).
Can the 84-year-old director return to form with Bradley Cooper behind a telescopic sight? If this first trailer for Sniper is any indication, the answer may be "affirmative."

Cooper plays real-life Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, considered the "most lethal" sniper in American military history—here's betting there are some Civil War vets who would have something to say about that.
