The main title sequence for Showtime's new series The Affair will feature music from a familiar voice: Grammy-winning Fiona Apple.
Apple's "Container" is an unreleased song she resurrected and revamped for The Affair after show creator Sarah Treem approached her to provide the theme music.
The final rendition of "Container," an eerie tune with dark lyrics, is inspired by the show’s narrative, which is about the complexities of an extramarital relationship.
"I was screaming into the canyon at the moment of my death; the echo I created outlasted my last breath," Apple sings. "My voice it made an avalanche and buried a man I never knew, and when he died his widowed bride met his daddy and they made you. I have only one thing to do and that's to be the wave that I am and then sink back into the ocean." Read more...
