NBC has cast Christopher Walken to play Captain Hook in its Peter Pan live musical, the network's first TV-musical production since last year's ratings gem The Sound of Music.
The 71-year-old Oscar winner, who got his start in musical theater and performed in 13 Broadway productions, will sing and tap during the Dec. 5 telecast of Peter Pan. Walken will follow in the footsteps of Cyril Richard, who won a Tony Award for his portrayal of Captain Hook in the Peter Pan Broadway musical that NBC aired in 1955
"I started my career in musicals and it’s wonderful after all this time, at this point in my career, to be in this classic musical I watched as a child," Walken said in a statement released Sunday"It’s a chance to put on my tap shoes again." Read more...
