Cheetahs Youngster Nails 80M Penalty

The high altitude in parts of South Africa has always been known to help with long-range efforts at goal, but this takes the biscuit from Cheetahs under–19 player Gerrie Labuschagne.

The wing launched a kick at the posts from 80 metres, as reported by ESPNScrum, and it sailed over the cross bar at the other end, much to the delight of his on-looking teammates.

There have been plenty of long–range efforts in more high–profile surroundings that have won big games, such as Morne Steyn's effort that won the second Test against the Lions in 2009.

And Gavin Henson's huge effort in 2005 for Wales that defeated England at the Millennium Stadium.

Gonzalo Garcia can also hit them from downtown, as he proved for Zebre last season with this monster.

And Marcelo Bosch proved it would be unwise for any of Saracens' opponents to cough up penalty chances just inside the Fez heads' own half.

But the bar has been set a little higher by the South African youngster now, albeit with a little bit of help from the wind you can hear on the video footage.
