Some people just seem to be born with a tent, hiking boots, and different gear, and they’re always ready for the outdoors. Others are just getting interested to spend more time going camping, hiking, fishing, and other wonderful outdoor activities. If you’re in the latter group, then join us to get more familiar with outdoor activities and how to make the most of it.
For some outdoor adventuring, here are some options you can start with:
Hiking
Hiking is a good hobby to start for a couple of reasons. For starters, it can be no more than just a walk through wooded land. It doesn’t have to be intense but you can make it more intense. Best of all, it can cost you close to nothing since walking is one of the few things we can do for free! But you might want to invest in a pair of hiking boots once you really get into it. Till then, you can just use a good pair of training shoes and a backpack for water and some snacks. Another great thing about it is that you can scale it according to your fitness level. You can find local hiking trails of all levels to join.
Camping
As a newbie, start camping from your car or recreational vehicle (RV). By doing it that way, all you need is to drive to a camping site, set camp, then just pack up and leave when you finish. On the other side of the coin, you can drive and set up camp somewhere in the middle of nowhere. It depends on your taste for adventure. Unlike hiking, camping does involve a lot of gear; according to Outdoor Command you need to check out and compare different types of gear you would use, such as tents, utensils, etc. Be sure to also check out guides on how to camp from your car, plus a lot of tips and all sorts of camping hacks. When it’s time to choose gear for camping or for other activities, you have to take lots of things into consideration. You don’t have to splurge, but don’t spend your money on cheap quality gear because those that withstand outdoor elements are from a moderate to high cost.
Backpacking
Out of hiking, camping, and backpacking, backpacking is the most difficult in terms of comfort. It’s really not that comfortable at all because you’ll be carrying all your material needs on your back, so to speak. That’s not easy to do while walking for miles on a trail. But those who do it know it’s a fantastic experience as you’re put smack in the middle of nature. All the gear you need for backpacking should be compact and lightweight.
When talking outdoors, we’re also talking water hobbies, cycling, rock climbing and a bunch of other activities that have no equivalents. When you think about it, as humans, we were meant to live more in the outdoors than indoors. There’s so much we miss when cooped up indoors. This is your time to break into the great outdoors!
