While many brands are hard at work figuring out how to harness augmented reality to power their marketing efforts, a group of students have created a way to block real-life ads before they ever reach your eyes


A prototype headset called "Brand Killer: Adblock for Real Life" offers every marketer's worst nightmare: It blocks company logos from your view when you encounter them in the real world



Created as an entry in the University of Pennsylvania's PennApps Winter 2015 hackathon, the four-person team responsible for the device describe it as "a technology demonstration that envisions a future in which consumers can use augmented reality to opt out [of] corporate influence" on their project page Read more...
