Mike Conley Injury: Updates on Grizzlies Star's Ankle and Return

Memphis Grizzlies star point guard Mike Conley will miss Friday's game versus the Orlando Magic while nursing a sprained right ankle.

John Denton of OrlandoMagic .com reported the news:

Conley is one of the quickest floor generals in the game and is often overlooked despite his proficiency, low turnover rate and underrated outside shooting ability.

The 27-year-old veteran has also been quite durable in his NBA career despite a rather slender frame. Should Conley be out of the lineup for a prolonged period of time, Memphis will turn to Beno Udrih for the most part to run the point, as it lacks a lot of pure ball-handlers.

What should help the Grizzles until Conley returns is that they play elite defense.

Tony Allen is among the best in the game at locking down the perimeter, while the frontcourt duo of Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph is as physical and gritty as any in the Association.

Although Memphis will miss Conley's characteristic quickness and distributing ability for the time being, there's enough depth and firepower in the rotation to keep the Grizzlies afloat in the loaded West.
