Iowa's Jonathan Parker Throws Ball While Falling out of Bounds on Kickoff Return

This might go down as the biggest brain fart from the college football season.

Iowa Hawkeyes kick returner Jonathan Parker was falling out of bounds with his team already down 28-0 against the Tennessee Volunteers in the Taxslayer Bowl. Trying to avoid bad field position, Parker decided to try to throw the ball back inbounds.

Here's another angle of the play.

Parker tossed the ball before stepping out, and the Volunteers recovered it. However, the play was ruled an illegal forward pass, not a fumble. The penalty pushed the Hawkeyes even closer to their own end zone.

Maybe next time he should just hold on to it.
