Turbulence forces emergency plane landing in Tokyo

A flight headed to Dallas/Fort Worth from Seoul was diverted to Tokyo to make an emergency landing after as many as 14 people were injured in a bout of turbulence.


American Airlines Flight 280 was carrying 240 passengers and 15 crew when it hit a storm with strong winds. Estimates of the number of injured varied from 12 to 14, according to several reports.



"American's primary concern at this time is for our passengers and crew on board the airplane and our team in Narita is providing assistance," the airline said in a statement about the incident. "We will provide additional information as it becomes available." Read more...
