Behind stellar performances down the stretch from LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, the Miami Heat were able to steal Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals away from the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday. With the victory, Miami also snatched the home-court advantage that Indiana had battled all season to secure.
Four days later, that could prove to be good news for the Pacers. Coach Frank Vogel ’s team is just 4-5 on its home floor in the postseason, but 5-1 on the road. With All-Star swingman Paul George (concussion) cleared by the team’s medical staff Friday and expected to play Game 3 Saturday night (8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN), Indiana will look for its sixth consecutive victory away from home.
However, the two-time defending champs have yet to lose inside AmericanAirlines Arena this postseason and held a 10-3 home record in the 2013 playoffs.
One of those trends will have to give, as has been the case throughout these first two contests. The offensively challenged Pacers won a 107-96 track meet in the opener, while the sometimes defensively indifferent Heat survived an 87-83 slugfest in the second match.
