Your East Coast Thanksgiving travel timeline: Rain, snow and delays on Wednesday

If your parents have not called you to tell you that a major storm is coming, and you should leave for home right NOW, then consider this your warning. Traveling on Wednesday from Virginia to Maine is going to be slow, slushy going, thanks to a winter storm that is slated to slam the East Coast.


The nasty weather is perfectly timed to disrupt what is traditionally the busiest travel day of the year, coming one day before Thanksgiving. The storm, which is already taking shape across the Southeast, promises to delay air traffic from Washington, D.C. to Boston, while making driving difficult, especially just inland of the big cities, where temperatures may be cold enough for snow to accumulate on roadways on Wednesday afternoon into the night.
