One evening in September, a newspaper editor in Turkey received an email from Twitter, warning that his account could be shut down. Someone had filed complaints about his tweets, but the email didn't say who it was. With the help of his attorney, however, he tracked the person down: It was a lawyer for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the country’s president
“They are trying to censure me,” the editor said to himself.
