Mavericks Set Franchise Record for Points in Paint

The Dallas Mavericks tied a franchise record with 76 points in the paint during Saturday's 131-117 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to NBA.com/stats.

The impressive victory capped off an eventful week, as the Mavs previously set a team record with their 53-point margin of victory in Thursday's headline-grabbing 123-70 beatdown of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Now 7-3 on the season, Dallas proved unstoppable for a second straight game Saturday night, jumping out to a 63-44 lead by halftime, which still wasn't nearly as impressive as Thursday's 73-29 advantage at the half.

Guard Monta Ellis scored a team-high 30 points in Saturday's game as one of eight different Mavs to reach double digits.

Following the pair of offense-heavy victories, Dallas is averaging an NBA-best 109.5 points per game, sitting 1.6 points ahead of the second-place Cleveland Cavaliers (107.9).

According to Basketball-Reference.com's play index, the Mavs have scored 123 or more points in back-to-back games 23 times in franchise history but have only reached the mark in three or more consecutive games on five separate occasions.

They'll look to make it six in Monday's road game against the Charlotte Hornets, who have allowed 99.7 points per game this season.
