The controversy over the Washington Redskins' name has made it to the team's backyard.
The Washington Post editorial board announced on Friday that the paper's opinion section will no longer use the name "Redskins" with respect to the Washington NFL team
"That’s the standard we apply to all offensive vocabulary, and the team name unquestionably offends not only many Native Americans but many other Americans, too," the board announced in an editorial.
The other sections of the paper, most importantly its sports coverage, will still use the name, the board noted. It can also appear in letters submitted to the paper and then reprinted. Read more...
