Arizona Cardinals 53-Man Roster Set After Final 22 Cuts Made

The Arizona Cardinals were among the last NFL teams to announce their final cuts following the four-game preseason. But as the saying goes, good things come to those who wait, and this roster is—as expected—stacked with talent.

Here are the final 22 cuts, according to Darren Urban of AZCardinals .com:

If you're asking me, there are no real surprises among those cut. I would have liked to see offensive guard Anthony Steen stay on the roster, but it's possible he makes it through waivers and is placed on the practice squad.

There are always a few undrafted free agents who impress throughout camp, and one who did so and earned his way onto the 53-man roster this season was inside linebacker Glenn Carson. He played well throughout the preseason, especially during the finale against the San Diego Chargers, leading the team with 10 tackles.

Former college basketball player and current tight end Darren Fells impressed coaches enough to make the initial 53 as the fourth tight end. He did not play football in college and has a lot to learn, but he showed enough to prove he is worth keeping and developing.

The addition of defensive tackle Tommy Kelly last week made it possible to let go of former San Francisco 49ers DT Isaac Sopoaga , who had been signed the week prior just after Darnell Dockett tore his ACL . Kelly’s signing also allowed the team to release undrafted former Purdue standout Bruce Gaston, whom the Cardinals could sign to the practice squad for further development.

Are you surprised at any of the cuts? Is someone on the final roster you expected not to be? Let us know!
