MTV is running two commercials before and during the Video Music Awards as part of its "Look Different" public service campaign, including a tribute to the protests in Ferguson, Missouri.
The first ad carries a more generic anti-bias message about breaking down stereotypes:
In the second ad, we hear the rallying cry of the protests in Ferguson and around the nation: "Hands up, don't shoot." On the screen is a quote from James Baldwin:
Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced.
MTV President Stephen Friedman said Sunday that the network hoped to spur a discussion surrounding the Aug. 9 police shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown, who was unarmed when he was killed. Read more...
