During surgical procedure on her throat at a clinic, 81-year-old Joan Rivers stopped breathing and was immediately taken to a New York City hospital, TMZ reported Monday
The longtime TV personality and comedian, whose biting humor takes jabs at celebrities and fashion, was reportedly transported from the clinic to a Mount Sinai Hospital near upper Central Park in Manhattan
A spokesperson for Mount Sinai told Mashable that the hospital had "no comment" at the time and would not confirm whether Rivers was a patient there
