When planning a vacation, lodging is often one of your top priorities—or it should be. Where you’re going to sleep at night is just as important as what activities you’re going to do during the day. Depending on where you’re travelling and what kind of vacation you’re looking for, there are many kinds of accommodations that you can look into. There’s something for every destination and every traveler.
Hotel
This is an easy one, of course, and the most likely to cross your mind when making plans. Thousands of options of hotels dot the globe, so you can almost certainly find one in the area you’re visiting. From inexpensive motels to luxury hotels, there’s bound to be something that will fit your preferences.
Vacation Rental
Sometimes, a hotel room is just too small. Maybe you’re looking for something more long term or with a bit more autonomy. More often than not, you can find whole apartment or house rentals wherever you’re going. Access to a kitchen and a living space might be just what you need to create a temporary home away from home.
Resort
A resort is also a no brainer if you’re looking for something luxurious and fun. In fact, you can find a resort with entertainment so that you don’t have to venture far from your room every day if you don’t want to. With fantastic musical performances and other resort activities such as golfing, swimming, fine dining, and more, you’ll never run out of things to do. You’re almost guaranteed to find an amazing resort with entertainment wherever you end up for your next adventure.
Castle
Yes, you can stay in a castle. Scattered around the country and, of course, across Europe, castles offer a unique and slightly fantastical way to relax on your next holiday. While the castles in the US are usually newer and a little less grand, they are still available, even on Airbnb. Imagine being able to say that you have stayed in a castle.
Tiny House
You have probably heard or seen the craze about tiny living. People move out of their houses and into homes only a few hundred square feet—or less—for many different reasons. Some want to live simpler and less materialistic lives. Some want to travel more and put their tiny home on wheels. Some want to live closer to nature. If any of those reasons intrigue you but you’re not willing to move into an itty-bitty space full time, you can always stay in one for a week or two. A few places online can connect you with RVs and stationary tiny homes in beautiful places wherever you are.
When you go on vacation, you’re likely focusing on the activities you’ll do and the sites you’ll see. However, you also need to keep in mind where you’re lodging. You want to be comfortable, and because lodging can take a good portion of your budget, you’ll want to plan for it early. The next time you’re planning a vacation, check some of these options out.
