When it comes time to sell your home, you want to get the most out of that investment, and there are plenty of home improvement projects you can do to help boost your property value before you put your home on the market. Oftentimes, many homeowners will decide to paint their entire home, inside and out, before putting it on the market, which makes the house look fresher and cleaner, but there are other ways you can improve the interior and exterior of your home without painting, and sometimes, not even a fresh coat of paint will cover up years of wear and tear.
Bricks or stacked stone can give your home a classic look and upgrade its appearance, but it can be an expensive undertaking to add to your home, and you often need a mason to help with it. This is part of why many people will turn to paint when they want to change up the look of their home. However, the use of faux stone and brick veneer can give your home that stone look for much cheaper and it is a DIY project you can complete in a weekend, and it completely covers up any parts of your siding that are marred from years of exposure.

Stone veneer has become a popular option that is just as beautiful as real stone but is much less expensive and it is environmentally friendly. It is cast from natural stone so that you have an authentic look and it does not crack like real stone, so it is actually more durable than the real thing.
According to Remodeling Magazine, the remodeling project that can significantly increase curb appeal and give homeowners a return on investment of 96 percent is a stone veneer. Stone veneer has had similar numbers as far back as 2015 when it was first added to Remodeling Magazine’s annual report, and it entered the top three ROI projects in the 90 percent range every year; the magazine’s 2020 survey had it as the number one ROI project.
Stone veneer is made from a waterproof high-density polyurethane, that prevents moisture and provides insulation. It is usually in one-inch-thick panels that can be easily installed on your own and are easy to cut to make it fit anywhere. A single square foot only weighs one pound, compared to the eight to 12 pounds per square foot of natural stone.
Think about when you pull up to a house that has stone siding or stone accenting the porch or other exterior area. It has a more traditional and unique feel to it, which can make it more attractive to prospective buyers. Some inventive ways you can use faux stone to upgrade the exterior of your home include: a retaining wall, lining your patio, and wrapping it around columns or pillars.
You can also use faux stone inside your home. Some ways you can use it include: accent walls, adding brick to the kitchen for a rustic look, adding stone to the kitchen or bathroom, and making the area around your fireplace brick.
These are just a few ways you can use stone veneer to upgrade your home’s look and increase your property value. The only limit is your imagination.
