After a long and cold winter, nothing warms the heart like the arrival of the spring season. You don’t have to be cooped up inside the house anymore. Go out and soak in all the vitamin D you want to! The most exciting thing about the arrival of a new season is that you get to take out all your seasonal clothes and reorganize your wardrobe.
It is not only our wardrobe that has to go through a major change. Some people make a habit of cleaning up their house after a season ends, and reshuffle their furniture. If you are also among such people, then this article is for you. Get ready for spring this year by sprucing up your home!
Let Accessories Do the Talking
Even the simplest accessories like towels in the bathroom or pillows on the bed can make a difference. With the new season, start fresh by getting new accessories as well. Take a note of all the things that need to be replaced or are getting out of style. Like buying a new area rug will change the vibe of your entire room.
A homespun modern trellis rug will make a good addition in your room as it is very trendy these days. If you don’t have the budget for new accessories, you can always check out your local thrift stores. I have found some of the most amazing stuff I have from a thrift store nearby, and there is no shame in purchasing pre-loved items. All you need to do is clean them up and try different DIYs to make them appear new again.
Fruits & Flowers
What is the first thing that comes to the mind when you hear the word ‘spring’? Flowers! Celebrate the true spirit of spring by using fruits and flowers to decorate your house. A bowl of lemons is so pleasing to the eyes and also very cheap.
Spring flowers such as tulips and daffodils are also not very expensive and you can easily find them in this season. Use lemons and some flowers to decorate your living room. You can even put such bowls on your dining table as they will increase its appeal.
Brighten Up With Colors
Spring is incomplete without its colors. Even the clothes during spring are more colorful and vibrant looking. However, you don’t have to use every color and paint your walls with it. Sunshine yellow never gets boring. If you can find one, buy a lemon-yellow lamp or a table made of glass. Even a single fresh item like this can really bring life into your home.
Star tip: It doesn’t matter how you choose to decorate your home, make sure to add the missing pop of color to every space. For example, a colorful ceramic vase in your all-white drawing room, a floral bold-patterned fur rug in your library and more. Just remember not to over-do it, ‘less is more’ is the key here!
Brighten Up the House
Now that it is spring, use the natural lights as they provide the best lighting. Clear materials like glass, let the light through them and help the interior shine. Use mirrors in your décor as well. They can be floor-length mirrors or large oval/round shaped mirrors. The more mirrors you will have in a room, the brighter it will look. Mirrors also make the room appear bigger than its actual size.
Bring In the Color Green
Nature proves to be very soothing and calming. Bring in some of the calming effects with the plants. Whether you grow plants in your backyard, have a tiny herb garden on your window-sill, or you have just arranged a few fresh cut flowers in the corner of your room, adding green will do wonders! It is a quick way to spruce things up.
Get cuttings or make bouquets with wildflowers and budding branches. Try and add the indoor plants in your house interior. In case you are worried about the bugs that they are going to catch, go for plants like lavender or basil. They are natural bug repellents so they’ll keep the bugs at bay.
Also, you need not worry about the maintenance of these plants, just make sure to keep them somewhere near the window or the entrance door or foyer where they can get a little sunlight. As a bonus tip, you can also check out shade-loving plants. They are even easier to maintain as all they need to survive is some water and no sunlight at all.
Change Your Curtains
Your curtains are another important part of your room as they provide you with the opportunity to add some color and texture. A quick and easy way to add extra color and print into your room is by putting up bright curtains.
The best curtains to use in spring season would be sheer, light curtains. They will add the much-needed sunshine into your space. Take down the thick and wintery shades, and use some light material to get the natural light in!
Get New Pillows
If your couch and bed are not drowning in pillows, then you are missing out on a lot. Pillows not only make the area comfortable to sit in, but they also act as a canvas. If you already have enough pillows, change their normal pillow covers.
Get pillows/pillow covers that have diverse colors, prints and textures. They will add color to your place and that too, with minimal effort, and you won’t be spending a lot of money. Colorful pillows work exceptionally well if your bedding is neutral, so they can stand out.
We hope we were able to give you some innovative ideas to redecorate your house this spring! I hope you enjoy every bit of it. Happy Decorating pals!
