State of Venezuela is located in northern side of South America. Besides the land territory, it has 72 islands with a total area of 1,210 square kilometers. Also, it represents the longest coastline on the continent with its 816 kilometers. Los Roques Islands are located 130 km from Caracas. Also they are part of the National Park which is made up of several small islands and bays that are known for its crystal clear sea and long sandy beaches. The archipelago Los Roques is home to various species of birds, as well as diverse sea life, which is why in 1972 the country’s authorities declared a national park. So, at that way the construction activities stopped and preserve the natural beauty of the lovely place.

Los Roques in translation means rock, but in reality there are only a few rocks, except on the island of El Roque Ran. Other islands are covered with fine white sand. With spectacular coral reefs and breathtaking underwater world it is not surprising at all that the archipelago was declared a national park. Diving despite these reefs is something you must not miss it. Because the climate is very dry, in Los Roques grow many kinds of cactuses, trees of mango and hundred years oak. In this protected park are hiding many animals, including some iguanas and turtles. There live 92 species of birds. Thanks to the climate and natural conditions, Los Roques is a paradise for fisherman. Persistent winds and relatively shallow water are suitable for sailing too.
