It is actually sunlight that penetrates through a submerged hole and then reflected in the white limestone and sand in the cave, shining underneath.

As soon as the sun rise, it filters red light leaving only blue color, resulting with an amazing phenomenon for which you do not need Photoshop to emphasize the beauty. You can visit Blue Grotto only when tides are low and the sea is calm because the cave mouth is two meters wide and roughly one meter high. To enter the Blue Grotto visitors must lay flat on the bottom of a small boat. Swimming in the Blue Cave is banned, both for safety reasons and to preserve water clarity.
