You know that feeling when you’re at home preparing for interstate travel and you secretly can’t wait to get to the hotel? Regardless of how old you are or how many times you’ve travelled for business and pleasure, the anticipation of arriving at your destination never fails to covertly excite.
Even when you’ve stayed in the same hotel before, it doesn’t matter. The room you get more often than not, is always going to be different. It makes you wonder if the room is going to be better, the same standard or God help us, worse. If it is the latter and you’re anything like me, you start to question what you did on your last visit to deserve this unwelcoming downgrade.
Irrespective of the decor of the room, you know you’re going to get a better night’s sleep there than when you are at home. You will wake up, jump out of bed feeling refreshed, ready to conquer the world – or at least your interstate trip. What’s with that? You’d think you’d be more at home in your own bed. In my experience, this couldn’t be further from the truth.
I decided I really should try and maximise my interstate travel and findings, by turning my own bedroom into a hotel suite. Well sort of. I can’t really afford to makeover my entire boudoir, actually I know I wont be able to afford anything at all once I’ve checked out the shops on Oxford Street in Darlinghurst through to Paddington. But still, as I pack my entire wardrobe into my over sized Samsonite (even though I’m only going away for one night), I can’t help but look at my bedroom in disgust. Not even fresh flowers are going to make my room feel all hotel like and give me that quality night’s sleep you achieve when staying at a luxury hotel. On my ridiculously low budget too, due to my fashion habits and faux pars, I just know I’d be better off investing in a quality mattress like in the boutique hotels I frequent versus getting several more clutches and a couple more pairs of hippie pants.
With a work schedule that leaves little time for breathing, how does one search for the ‘perfect mattress?’ Thank God for the beauty of the Internet! The digital world is a gift to those like myself who have been blessed with the relentless, on-the-go lifestyle. The ability to buy everything from groceries to mattresses online, is truly magical! I could look at doing more interstate trips or I could at the very least make my own bedroom feel more like a room in a hotel. All I have to do is invest in a luxury mattress. That’s got to be a safer solution than getting all obsessed and going overboard with filler.
Once my Grand Master mattress is delivered, I can look forward to the beauty sleep I’ve been chasing for years. I’ll wake up feeling like I’ve had an entire face lift that would give Dannii Minogue a run for her money (how good does she look)! Mine being a non-invasive face lift of course, but the lines under my eyes just about vanish into thin air. Being in my thirties, holding onto my youth is paramount. I have the spirit of someone in their twenties but I just have to ensure my exterior is all, Benjamin Button-like while on a budget.
It doesn’t matter how much money I waste on potions and lotions, treating skin from within is what I’ve found genuinely helps me desperately grasp onto what’s left of my looks. You can’t put a price on a good night’s sleep!
