KIEV, Ukraine — If there is one thing Russians do well, it is dark humor.
Their ruble has collapsed to all-time lows, thanks in large part to sinking oil prices and Western sanctions, which have hampered the country’s once-booming economy. Inflation is setting in, with prices of goods shooting through the roof, and entering a recession next year is all but a forgone conclusion.
That is all bad news for Russians, but some have chosen to embrace it through dark comedy — and some peace and serenity.
Russian website Zenrus.ru, which launched last week, incorporates both. The website, designed by Moscow-based programmer Mikhail Lisnyak, displays the ruble-dollar exchange rate, the ruble-euro exchange rate and the price of Brent crude oil fluctuating in real time.
