The Indianapolis Colts took a chance by audibling to a fake punt on 4th-and-11 from the Dallas Cowboys' 19-yard in the first quarter of Sunday's game. When punter Pat McAfee threw the ball, it looked like a good idea. However, it turned out to be costly decision.
Before the snap, the Cowboys took a defender off gunner Dewey McDonald. That shift left McDonald open on the outside, so the Colts took a shot.
Unfortunately for Indianapolis, there's a reason that McDonald is a defensive back and not a wide receiver.
The wide-open drop led to someone updating McDonald's Wikipedia page:
Instead of the Colts' drive continuing, the Cowboys took over in the red zone. On the first play of the ensuing drive, Dallas quarterback Tony Romo connected with Dez Bryant for a 19-yard touchdown, which gave the Cowboys a 14-0 lead.
