A global offering of love to 31 Australian couples whose marriages were voided

A beautiful campaign is kicking off around the world to recognise the 31 marriages voided by the Australian government in 2013.


Leading international LGBT non-profit organisation GLAAD is calling on people to show their support for the Australian couples whose marriages were deemed invalid exactly one year ago


In a global show of love, the 5 Days of Equality campaign will encourage people around the world to send congratulation messages to the couples during the five days spanning the date of their one-year anniversary.



On December 7, 2013, a bill went into effect that was passed by the Australian Capital Territory making it the first part of Australia to legalise same-sex marriage. However, five days later, the Federal Government challenged the decision, saying it was inconsistent with national laws, and the legislation was overturned in Australia's High Court, rendering the 31 couples' unions invalid.
