No. 1 seed Serena Williams and No. 10 Caroline Wozniacki will meet in the women’s final at the U.S. Open on Sunday afternoon, and you can follow all the live action right here.
Williams hasn ’t had a banner year in the Grand Slams, But she seems to have hit her stride, rolling over No. 17 Ekaterina Makarova 6-1, 6-3 in the semifinal. Williams remains a heavy favorite to capture the sixth U.S. Open title of her career.
If she’s successful, Williams will join Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova with 18 career Grand Slams, the second most in the modern era.
Wozniacki wasn ’t considered by many to be a legitimate contender heading into the season’s final Grand Slam, but she’s put her game together and battled to Sunday’s final.
The former world No. 1 reached the final of this same tournament in 2009, losing in straight sets to Kim Clijsters, and she’s seeking her first career Grand Slam.
Williams and Wozniacki are extremely close friends off the court, but both will need to put that aside if they want to leave Flushing as the champion of the 2014 U.S. Open.
Williams leads the career series between the two, winning eight of their nine matches.
