Croatia took the lead in their Euro 2016 qualifier against Malta thanks to an excellent long-range strike from captain Luka Modric .
In the first minute of the second half, the Real Madrid player struck a right-footed shot from around 35 yards out and found the net via at least one deflection.
Regardless of the traffic the ball worked its way through, the goal is the perfect way for Modric to celebrate his birthday!
Croatia will be disappointed to have waited 46 minutes to score against minnows Malta, who went down to 10 men after half an hour.
