San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore surpassed the 10,000-yard mark in Sunday's 28-17 win over the Dallas Cowboys, becoming the 29th player to cross that threshold, per CSN Bay Area.
Entering the game at 9,967 career yards, Gore was all but guaranteed to reach the milestone mark in a matchup with the shaky Dallas defense. Getting there took longer than expected, as the 49ers didn't run many plays in the first half, thanks to one defensive touchdown and another interception that set them up at the Dallas 2-yard line.
Gore, who didn't get his first carry—which he took for 20 yards—until the second quarter, eventually crossed 10,000 yards in the third quarter when he picked up four yards on a 1st-and-10.
After gaining 30 yards on just four first-half carries, Gore was held to 36 yards on his 12 second-half totes, as the Cowboys often knew what was coming with the Niners sitting on a double-digit lead.
Gore finished the afternoon with 66 yards on 16 carries, while his top backup, Carlos Hyde, pitched in 50 yards and a touchdown on seven carries.
The 49ers' all-time leading rusher, Gore has played for no other team during his 10-year career. Still going strong at the age of 31, he should combine with first-year pro Hyde to give the Niners the excellent rushing attack that fans have come to expect in recent seasons.
