Cricket's richest competition has once again arrived, with the 2014 edition of the Indian Premier League set to begin on Wednesday.
Following on from the success of the ICC World Twenty20, the planet's most explosive and skilful stars will shed their nation's colours for the uniforms of eight glamorous and powerful IPL franchises.
But before this year's competition gets underway, let's look back and examine the finest players to have ever competed in cricket's modern-age phenomenon, by ranking the top 50 IPL players of all time.
