Each generation is defined by a select group of players who can lay claim to being bona fide stars of world football. But who will be next?
In this slideshow, we look at 20 players who have the potential to be the next big icons of the beautiful game.
We aren't delivering a selection of players that you've never heard of, but we are deliberating who could potentially achieve Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi -like proportions of fame in the coming seasons.
To be considered for inclusion, all players must be aged 25 or under. We have not included the likes of Neymar, Eden Hazard, David Alaba or Mario Gotze, as these players can arguably be considered "big stars" already.
Arranged in an order that we feel best represents how close to superstardom these players are, this list is not exhaustive and there are a wealth of players that could have been included.
