Escape this Spring with a Bank Holiday Retreat

Spring brings an end to those winter blues and dullness that you often find through the cold season. But as soon as it ends, you feel much more at ease as the sun starts to show its face more often and everything feels much fresher. With a new energy and enthusiasm for the upcoming summer, it’s the best time to make plans and have something to look forward to.

Spring is a great time of year to get outside and spend some quality time with your family. Enjoying the sun and the increased warmth, you look forward to the weekends even more so you can get out and about. Luckily for us, we have a bank holiday coming up at the end of May that gives us the perfect chance to make plans with our family and friends. With everyone getting that extra day off, you can treat yourself to a weekend away.

Ambleside Lake District -

A long weekend presents an ideal opportunity to visit somewhere new for the weekend, even if it’s still in the UK. After all, with so many beautiful places on our doorstep, you don’t need to go abroad! Planning a getaway, whether it’s just the two of you or the whole family, gives you something to look forward to as the summer begins to roll in. The Lake District is one such stunning area of the country, offering a beautiful setting for a relaxing weekend. With so much to see and do, you can treat yourself to a real retreat away from your usual routine.

Activities For The Adventurer In You

The Lake District has a never-ending list of things to see and do, but if you’re feeling particularly adventurous then you’ll be in your element. From hiking up one of the many mountains or fells, to getting involved in watersports on one of the 12 lakes, you’ll find something for the whole family.

Back on top!!!

With a list of outdoor entertainment, you can choose from abseiling, kayaking or even cycling depending on your abilities. Skiddaw mountain, overlooking the market town of Keswick, is particularly popular due to the spectacular scenery.

Taking advantage of the fresh air and the outdoors while being surrounded by a serene environment; what more could you ask for over the bank holiday weekend?

Soaking Up The Culture

The Lake District is full of historical towns and there is so much English culture to learn about. The area is a big favourite of some famous writers and painters such as William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and JMW Turner. You can actually still visit the home of Wordsworth in Cockermouth.

There are also several castles to take a look round, giving you an idea of life in this area all those years ago. To top it all off, there are a number of traditional activities in the Lake District that you can get involved in, including fell running and hound trailing.

Take a Walk

The Lake District is probably most well-known for its countless walking trails. With millions of visitors every year, spring is the perfect time to enjoy a walk or hike. There is a path for every ability, whether you’re a keen hiker or a novice. With the opportunity to take in some amazing views and see some of the UK’s unspoiled landscapes, you can treat yourself to a pub lunch afterwards!

So this year, do something a bit different with your bank holiday weekend, and don’t forget to add some comfort and luxury to your trip by staying at Inn on the Square.
